Maruti Suzuki has been ruling the Indian hearts ever since automobiles became mass-centred in India. The carmaker has bestowed us with some of the most iconic cars to ever grace the soil of our country# and the Zen hatchback has to be one of them. Sure, it wasn’t that popular as compared to the 800 but it still sold in huge numbers. Apart from being a perfect hatchback for urban runabouts, surprisingly, tuners also found it quite adorable partly because of its minuscule proportions.

More details

Although we don’t witness many examples of a modified Zen, most of the custom ones out there are proper sleepers! The one that we have here today with us also belongs to the same category. Enter ‘The Nemo’, an orange-shaded customized Zen owned by Mr. Amal Vaishakh and Mr. Athul Vaishakh from God’s Own Country – Kerala.

Performance mods

While the stock Zen is powered by a 993cc In-Line petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox delivering maximum power and torque of 60 Ps@6000 rpm and 78 Nm@4500 rpm, the one featured here boasts of a G16B Engine Swap.

modified orange zen front

The Suzuki G16B is a 1.6-litre straight-four 4-stroke natural aspirated gasoline engine from the Suzuki G-family. This engine produced from 94 PS at 5,600 rpm to 97 PS at 5,600 rpm of maximum horsepower and from 132 N·m at 4,000 rpm to 140 N·m at 4,000 rpm of peak torque. The mods list is rather long so we are going to focus only on the juiciest bits. The Nemo also gets Raj Hingoorani 4:2:1 Header Exhaust system, Genome Air Intake System with Stainless Steel Piping, Brembo Rotors and Pads with Type 2 Brake Upgrade from Brembo, Custom Strut Bar and Custom Short Ratio Gearbox. Although the owners haven’t dyno tested The Nemo yet, it is safe to conclude that The Nemo produces a lot more ponies than a stock Zen.

Aesthetic updates

Now that we have listed down the mechanical upgrades, let us get down to The Nemo’s aesthetics because even when it comes to looks, The Nemo looks nothing like a stock Zen. Take the Metallic Orange Paintjob for instance that screams so loud in your eyes that you wouldn’t want to mess with it. It also gets Fidanza Flywheel, 15” 7.25J Rims Wrapped in 185/45/15 Nankang Rubber and Sparco Racing Seats. We are saving its one of the best bits for the last as it also gets Tanabe Lowering Springs with custom Stiffened Front & Rear Suspension Dampers. We expect The Nemo to behave like a Go-Kart around the bends with enough grunt to slide the rear wheel out on rare occasions.

Modified orange zen rear

If an Orange Maruti Suzuki Zen pulls up next to you at a red light, take our advice and don’t indulge in a battle. If it turns out to be The Nemo, you might end up getting embarrassed.

Could Someone Please Make The Tata Safari GTS Concept A Reality?

Tata Motors resurrected the Safari moniker earlier this year, when it decided to lend the iconic nameplate to the Gravitas, otherwise also known as the 7-seater version of the Harrier. Manufacturers, in the wake of carving out a 7-seater SUV out of their already existing 5-seater offerings, often manage to ruin the aesthetics of the vehicle but Tata has managed to do a neat job with the Safari. But what we have today with us, dials the oomph factor to 11. Meet the Safari GTS concept, the brainchild of a digital artist named Shashank Das (@sdesyn).

More details

The Safari GTS concept is basically a performance-oriented version of the standard Safari and we have to admit, if someone decides to make it a reality, it will turn out to be quite a looker!

Tata safari GTS concept (1)

To make a vehicle look sportier, the recipe is simple. Eliminate all the chrome bits and replace them with blacked-out elements. The same treatment has been given to the Safari GTS concept. The chrome bits on the front grille, headlamp surrounds, window sills, tailgate inserts have been given the murdered-out treatment. Other blacked-out bits include ORVMs, roof rails, and door handles.

Tata safari GTS concept

Another major visual highlight has to be its Porsche-derived Carmin Red colourway with the blacked-out roof. It is worth noting here that the Safari is currently available in Royale Blue, Tropical Mist, Daytona Grey, Orcus White and Tropical Mist Adventure colourways. It is surprising to see that manufacturers are ignoring the sporty red shade for their respective offerings and the Safari GTS concept goes on to establish the fact that the sporty combination of black and red is here to stay.

Tata safari GTS concept (2)

Talking about the other updates, the stock alloy wheels have been replaced with aftermarket units from Rotiform. These are LAS-R cast monoblock units wrapped in Matte Black shade. SUVs aren’t meant to slay the corners because of their structure that allows considerable body roll to upset the vehicle if pushed to its limits. To make the Safari a little more manageable around the bends, the artist has also thrown in adjustable suspension, which will allow a sportier drive experience.

Tata safari GTS concept (3)

Mechanically, the Safari is powered by the same 2.0L fiat sourced 4 cyl Kyrotec turbo diesel engine which puts out 170PS of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox unit. The Kyrotec powertrain is peppy enough to spawn a performance-oriented version of the Safari out of it and if Tata ever decides to go ahead with this idea, we cannot imagine how great it would be for the enthusiasts!

This Digitally Rendered Hyundai Creta N Is Lifted Straight From An Enthusiast’s Dream!

We might still be devoid of Hyundai’s N or N-line models but we believe that with the growing number of enthusiasts in our country, it is about time that we had performance-oriented versions of our favourite Korean cars. Take the Hyundai Creta for instance. It is an absolute battering ram for its rivals as it always manages to retain the top spots in the sales charts. The primary reason behind Creta’s meteoric success is because it perfectly suits the needs of an average Indian family. But what if we had a performance-oriented version of the Creta or the Creta N?

More details

Shashak Das, a digital artist who recently came up with the hardcore Tata Safari GTS Concept, has now come up with its own rendition of how the Creta N could turn out to be.

Hyundai Creta N render

The thing with this particular render is, it doesn’t look outrageous and gels well with the Hyundai N philosophy. Take the signature ‘Performance Blue’ colour for instance, which is synonymous with other Hyundai N cars as well. To up the visual flair, the front end now features a vertically stacked grille that is devoid of any chrome elements. And to be honest, it does look better than the stock grille. Even the fog lamps look suave in this render. You know a car means business when it is equipped with a front splitter and this Creta N falls in the same line. A little wordplay there. Get it?

Hyundai Creta N

Also, the blacked-out roof really does bring out the blue shade of the vehicle. The renderer has also made sure to make the body lines look more pronounced. The creases on the bonnet and the shoulder line that runs across the side profile look more pronounced than before, thus lending it a rather butch appeal.

Hyundai Creta N (1)

The Creta N featured here sits on Vossen VPS308 rims with Pirelli Pzero tyres and decals. It looks particularly smashing from the rear as it gets a completely redesigned tail lamp setup that looks like a huge step up from the stock. To accentuate the visual flair, it also gets a dual exhaust setup with a rear diffuser and Hyundai N badging proudly sitting on the tailgate.

Hyundai Creta N (2)

Moreover, the digital artist believes that if the Creta N becomes a reality, it should have at least 200HP on tap and we couldn’t agree more!

This Tata Harrier Puts Down 225 BHP and 470 NM After ECU Remapping

The Tata Harrier used to serve as the brand’s flagship car before the resurrection of the Safari. The Harrier is renowned for its European looks and solid build quality. The Harrier has carved a special place in the hearts of Indian car enthusiasts primarily because of its looks but it is so much more than that. It has a potent engine, loads of features and is big on practicality too. While the Harrier’s performance isn’t anything to complain about, it isn’t a tarmac scorcher by any means but today what we have here with us is a tuned Harrier that isn’t slow by any margin!

Watch video

This car belongs to Shubham Bagul and the video explaining the mods was uploaded by Nick Zeek. One of the simplest yet very efficient performance mods is ECU remapping. It alters the engine’s output without fiddling around with the mechanicals that much.

The differences

In this particular case, the performance gains are massive! While the stock Tata Harrier puts down 170 PS of power and 350 NM of torque from its FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine, the one featured here belts out 225 bhp and 470 Nm of peak torque. This has been achieved by a Stage 1 Code 6 ECU remapping. Apart from boosting the maximum performance, the ECU remap has also pushed the rev limit even further. While a stock Harrier redlines somewhere around 4500 rpm, the one featured here redlines at a staggering 6500 rpm.

Tuned Tata Harrier

6500 rpm is considerably higher for a diesel powertrain. With the increase in performance, this Harrier also benefits from a higher top speed. In the regular Harrier, top speed is in the range of 180-190 kmph. This ECU modified Harrier is claimed to easily clock a speed of 215-220 kmph without any hassle.

Dark Edition

The Harrier dark edition gets Oberon black colour with a deep blue tinge. It also gets 18inch Blackstone alloy wheels. The interior gets a dark theme with Benecke Kaliko leatherette upholstery which carries tri-arrow perforations with deep blue undertone.

Tata Harrier Dark Edition

The Harrier dark edition will be available in the XT+, XZ+ and XZA+ trims. Tata Motors has priced the Harrier Dark Edition at INR 18.04 Lakh.

This Digitally Rendered Tata Tiago Wants To Go Rallying!

Tata Motors has certainly upped its game in the past few years and a major chunk of it has to be attributed to its IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. Pratap Bose played a pivotal role in designing the cars and we all know how has that turned out. Be it hatchbacks like Tiago and Altroz or SUVs like Nexon or the Harrier, they follow the same design philosophy and are quite handsome to look at. Bimble Designs, an automotive design enthusiast, has created his own rendition of a rugged Tiago WRC Edition and it looks, umm… sick!

Although it is just a digital rendering, it shouldn’t be much of a problem to transform it into reality. We have already witnessed countless mod jobs that are more complicated and radical than this.

Tata Tiago WRC edition rendered

It comes draped in WRC-inspired livery. The overall shade of the vehicle has been kept a little stealthy with a perfect mixture of black and grey shades. The dark shade also helps the neon-painted wheels to pop out. The Tiago featured here looks lower than the standard variant that should assist the driver with more enhanced visibility. In a proper WRC fashion, the rear end features a huge spoiler to keep this little thing stable as it storms through the rally stages. The rear end is completely blacked out.

Tata Tiago WRC edition rendered (2)

Coming to the other aesthetic bits now, the renderer has made sure to lend it that butch appeal that the standard Tiago misses out on. This has been achieved by the integration of widened fenders, rally wheels, hood pins and numerous vents. If we think in that way, converting a stock Tiago to something as radical like this shouldn’t pose that much problem. We just hope that someone gets inspired by this digital render and goes ahead with the modification.

Tata Tiago – specs and features

Talking about the mechanical bits, the Tiago BS6 gets a 1.2 Litre Revotron engine which cranks out 86PS of peak power and 117 Nm of peak torque. The Tiago is offered with either a 5-speed stick or an AMT gearbox with manual mode. In terms of features, the top-spec, fully-loaded variant comes with a touch-screen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, a Fully Digital Instrument Cluster, push-button start Stop and Auto AC.

Tata Tiago BS6 contrast black

The cars also offer dual-path suspension, dual airbags, a flat-bottom wheel, new fabric upholstery, steering mounted controls, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. The Tiago comes equipped with some segment-first safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Corner Stability Control (CSC) & electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), rear parking assist etc.

The Tata Safari and Harrier seem to be a favourite among 3d illustrators for designing concepts. Guess this could be attributed to their design and versatility of looking good in every body style and colour. We’ve already seen the Safari GTS and convertible concepts which look absolutely smashing. We now get to take a look at the Safari ST made by Instagram user @bimbledesigns.

What’s new?

The Safari ST is a track-only concept that features a fire breathing 6.2 litre Hemi V8 engine straight from a Jeep Trackhawk! The concept also features different headlights as compared to the standard Safari. It is also lowered and it sits on track wheels which suits its sporty credentials.

The concept sports a silver body colour with a black stripes paint job. Other details include a hood scoop and ST badges on the fenders. It also features Safari branding on the side. This concept is surely what dreams are made of and it would be wishful thinking to see this concept turn into reality!

Tata Safari: a quick recap

Speaking about the standard Safari, it gets features such as an 8.8” touch infotainment system with iRA that supports voice commands. It also gets an e-parking brake, automatic climate control, 9-speaker JBL system, terrain response modes, ambient lighting powered driver’s seat etc. Mechanically, the Safari is powered by the same 2.0L fiat sourced 4 cylinder Kyrotec turbo diesel engine which puts out 170PS of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque.

tata safari review (6)

It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox unit. It shares its platform and architecture with the Harrier is 63mm longer and 80mm taller than the Harrier. The Tata Safari is available in 6 or 7-seating configurations takes on the likes of MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700. We had recently spotted the Tata Safari being tested but we don’t know what Tata might be cooking. Tata could be testing an AWD powertrain or even a petrol engine to make up for the lack of it when compared to the competition.

Down there, the list of modifications is endless, from changing the colour scheme to swapping the entire engine assembly, the list goes on and on. Modifying your car according to your personal needs might sound exciting and all but you gotta be aware of the authorities because most of the modifications are considered illegal. Modifications Done

The modification which can be seen through the pictures include a paint job consisting of sharp colours and the on the sides, their channel’s logo. Along with the logo we can see a Wolf as well. Apart from this crazy paint job. The lights of the vehicle are also replaced with after-market ones which include headlamps and taillights. For further brightness, they have also installed auxiliary lights at the top. There is 2 auxiliary light set up plus a LED light bar. Motor Vehicle Department Issue

Initially, the MVD seized the vehicle due to an expired camper permit. But it was later found that the permit was valid. The van was seized once again because of some alleged issue with the documents. However, the YouTubers claim that the MVD was just harassing them as they had modified their vehicle. Having learned about their ordeals through social media, several of their followers gathered at the RTO in their support. The vloggers were taken into custody following the ruckus.

The Kerala MVD has been very strict when it comes to altering the specifications of cars and bikes. Earlier, an Isuzu V-Cross owner was slapped with a fine of Rs. 48,000 for modifying his vehicle. For the YouTuber incident, the fans of the channel have retorted to social media for justice. Justice for E Bull Jet is the movement’s name.
